New Schools Network

The New Schools Network is an independent charity set up in 2009.

We aim to improve the quality of education – particularly for the most deprived – by increasing the number of independent, innovative schools within the state sector.

A significant number of parents cannot get their child into a good local school. For those who cannot afford a mortgage in the right catchment area, let alone school fees, options are limited.

We believe those parents deserve an alternative. Groups of teachers, parents, organisations and charities should be allowed to set up schools with the freedom to offer what parents want. Headteachers should have the flexibility to do what they think works – whether it’s smaller class sizes, strong discipline, or longer school days.

Our Work

New Schools Network (NSN) provides advice and guidance on how to set up successful new state schools. We will give particular support to groups in deprived areas.

We will work with any group seeking to set up a high quality, inclusive school which is compatible with the democratic principles of this country.

Our People

Everyone at the New Schools Network is passionate about creating a great education system for every child. Our team have expertise in all the components of setting up a school – we have helped hundreds of groups submit applications to the Department for Education.
